Hosea 7

Hosea 7:10
Though the pride of Israel testifies against him,
Yet they have not returned to the LORD their God,
Nor have they sought Him, for all this.
It may be because I already know how the story goes, but this result doesn't surprise me.  This people's pride is leading them down a bad path, but they refuse to see it.  That is one definition of pride, after all:  refusing to believe what's right in front of you, because you know better.

However, the people should truly know better, because this is not an unfamiliar story.  Time after time their ancestors took more of less the same path, only for it to lead to ruin.  But like most new generations, they think they know how to avoid the cliff, and therefore need not fear walking near the edge.
