When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them.Most of the dramatizations of the two prophets' death is fairly simple. The antichrist comes and confronts them directly, and kills them without much resistance. That fits the general view modern Christians have of what good behavior looks like, offering no physical resistance to enemies.
However, that's not what this passage says will happen. These two have the ability to kill those who wish them harm, by miraculous means. When the antichrist comes, it sure looks like this is going to be a battle royale, which will probably not leave Jerusalem unscathed.
