What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice.There was a potential problem at the time. Paul had been imprisoned, and therefore was unable to preach the Gospel to the masses. While some who stepped into the gap did it for the right reasons, others did it to spite him, or to enhance themselves.
Many see this today, for example in modern televangelists or prosperity gospel preachers. While some may lead people astray with incorrect messages, we should be grateful for those who preach correctly, even if they do it for selfish reasons. Because of these imperfect people, more come to know Christ, and that is the most important thing.
