And Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away, because it is written, 'I WILL STRIKE DOWN THE SHEPHERD, AND THE SHEEP SHALL BE SCATTERED.'There's an old saying about courage, and how no one really knows how they will react in a situation until it occurs. The ones who seem the bravest may crack, or they may stand firm as expected. The weak may break, or they may find reserves they never knew were possible.
In this case, I wonder how it played out. Was their fleeing a matter of human frailty following through? Or was this the prompting of the Spirit in some way, to maintain the prophecy?
