Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him;My mental antenna twanged when I read this verse. In the past, and it may be this way in other gospels, I've always heard that this was something everyone around saw. They all saw the Spirit like a dove, and in the next verse the voice from Heaven.
However, here it appears that only Jesus saw and heard this. So which is true? Was this something God revealed to all present, or was this something private between the Father and Son?
