For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.You hear of people who speak in tongues, and how others sometimes translate from a language the first doesn't even know. Some people treat these stories with reverence, believing they show the power of God. Other times they lead people to Christ, speaking to them in their obscure native language.
However, I've never heard one of these stories where the speaker had a clue what he was saying. It always just comes out, and he is only a relay. However, we have to remember that in speaking tongues, the person speaking gains nothing from speaking, because it makes no more sense to him than most of the rest of us.
