And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and given her a writ of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and was a harlot also.This is, sadly, a very common part of the fall of humanity. We see all around us the examples of people who have messed up, and suffered the consequences. Yet we then go and do the very same things, to the very same results.
Why is this a problem? Why can't we learn from others' mistakes? I think it's because in part we think it could never happen to us; and in part that we think that enough people have done it, the rewards must be worth it somehow. If only we'd actually learn.
