Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe,Leaders hold a special trust with the people. They are who is looked up to, and trusted to do the right thing. But with that station comes special responsibilities.
Her priests instruct for a price
And her prophets divine for money.
Yet they lean on the LORD saying,
"Is not the LORD in our midst?
Calamity will not come upon us."
Chief among those responsibilities is to discharge your duties fairly and impartially. When influence can be bought, it's the beginning of downfall. To still couch one's work in God's blessing after being so corrupt is literally asking for it.
